The Alberto Giacometti collection at Kunsthaus Zurich is always a treat to visit. I am always reminded of my first trip to Ravenna, Italy, where a contemporary exhibition of Giacometti was in place. His ascension message talks about the Holy divine. In this location you were taken up to Heaven with the golden mosaics lining the churches and down through a different ascension to Heaven past dark matter to star dust with Giacometti. His focus on a post cruciform ascension or past Christ on the cross, ascending the spirit to God with the human being is what I feel his work is talking about. Matter disintegrates. The fragile, thin, angled figures disappear through matter to God as though the spirit is being ascended after death. Almost like Giacometti was born too close to God.
