Almost all the people in Dante's Inferno appear to be from the township itself. Often on the journey down into the abyss of hell the narrator is challenged by the sinners and their keepers to leave this place as they are not welcome visitors and are often assumed to be Christ performing a saviour to those who can comprehend they have sinned or are dead. They are very powerful visual images created by Dante in this masterwork and have outlived the test of time but are something of an eternal understanding of earth and God's earthly domain. God is someone Dante really trusted but is someone who provided this incredible vision of a Paradise only found through love and also of a Heaven only found through a journey of love. So, you also feel Settignano was surrounded by the same bloodline people who would have created a similar environment of hell on earth but the workshop was a place for divine work.
