John Everett Millais also painted another incredible painting about love called Isabella, 1848-1849. This painting is from Florentine Renaissance and the Lorenzo family is the subject. Isabella falls in love and her brothers become painfully jealous and kill her suitor. You feel he would have set up the family too expensively and would be no competition for the brothers, even though they would have benefitted financially. Isabella finds his body and rescues the head to plant in a pot of basil. The brothers are jealous of their sister tending the basil pot and try to get rid of the evidence, I am sure there is a moral in this tale of courtly love, we do have Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet about emotions being equalling as sinister. Society does not always breed fair demons. They just wanted to break her heart.
