Giovanni Benedetto Castiglione (1609-1664) was well appreciated by the Royal family. His lost genius from Rome feels as though his style was something too individual. Premise the line work of his work is maybe too French looking for the time. Living in one city where the artist is not appreciated can be damaging but does not mean the art is of inferior quality just not the personal taste of the current collectors. The quality of the line work looks really contemporary. Current equations of something similar would be contemporary abstract work with a similar equation of Christ.
