Der Muller und der Bach
(The Miller and the Stream)
The Miller:
When a true heart
dies of love,
then lilies wither
in every border.
Into the clouds must
the full moon go
so that its tears
men do not see.
Then angels keep
their eyes shut,
and sob and sing
the soul to rest!
The Stream:
And when love
conquers pain
a new star
twinkles in the sky.
Then three roses spring
half red and half white,
and never wither
on the sprig of thorn.
And the Angels cut
off their wings
and go every morning
down to earth.
The Miller:
Ah stream, dear stream,
you mean it so well;
but do you know, stream,
what love does?
Ah down below, below
is cool rest!
Ah stream, dear stream,
sing on then.

Closing piece
Death is great.
We are his completely
with laughing eyes.
When we feel ourselves immersed in life,
he dares to weep
immersed in us.

Morpheus
Melbourne 2000
Idol
God or goddess of the sleep of cats,
savouring deity that in the dark
mouth crushes ripe eye-berries,
grape-juice of seeing grown sweet,
everlasting light in the palate's crypt.
not a lullaby,- gong! gong!
What conjures other gods
let him go, this wily god,
to his power that collapses inwards.

Rose, pure contradiction, delight

Haiku
Little moths stagger quivering out of the box hedge;
they will die tonight and will never know
that spring had not yet come.

This- is now my way: where is yours?
Thus I answered those who asked me 'the way'.
For the way- does not exist!
